Amble through the trees of Hickory Run State Park and enjoy the view of Hawk Falls. Its very crowded and no place really to swim. First September 2018 and second September 2020. Hawk Falls is a beautiful 25-foot waterfall that is easy to access and somewhat under-appreciated. Most of the hike is on state game lands. Question?!?!? This isn’t a waterfall that you can easily find if you just show up to the park with no idea of where to go. When I visited, I don’t recall seeing any of that, and I know I would have noticed graffiti. When entering the trail from route 534, you begin to walk a downward slope toward the water through tall rhododendron.
Second time it was sooo crowded. Initially, corestones form underground by the action of spheroidal weathering on jointed bedrock. The main waterfalls probably wouldn’t be great for a photoshoot, though because there are often a lot of people here.
At the bottom of the waterfall are some flat rocks that people often use as places to access the water for swimming. I'd recommend good shoes because the rocks can be slippery and there are parts of the hike where the hill is steeper than it looks. There are side paths to visit the river we are walking by. It was a lovely walk. After spending some time exploring around the top of the waterfall, I got back onto the main trail and continued downward.
