It leaves you feeling like halfway through another project came up and she just phoned this one in. I honestly am not sure how to interpret the ending of the book....it's that good and Ms. Flynn is a great thriller writer. This is a short story that starts out with promise, and then just ends abruptly without really finishing the story. Wait, what? Anyways after completing the book I was tremendously disappointed for 2 main reasons: The first 3/4 of the book is pretty amazing and very Gillian Flynn, Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2018. The first lines of this book REALLY lure you in, in an X-rated, very adult way. She doesn't believe in psychic abilities or the supernatural, but her troubled childhood and criminal past amount to a lifetime of observing other people and using what she learns to manipulate and dupe them - essentially, she can work out what it is that people want to hear.

The characters were all one dimensional, and while Miles was creepy at times, his personality wasn't built up enough so he didn't feel like a realistic, disturbing villain. It seems like the ending was written too quickly.
