I first read these Parker novels many years ago and am now embarking on reading the whole series again.
But his violence - often of the fatal variety - is never gratuitous, or without its own justification according to his code of ethics. I also love how the books range across so many years and yet Parker remains as young, invincible and ageless as ever. His main character, Parker, isn't a classic good guy, he's not going beyond the law to seek revenge for a moral wrong. If it matters to anyone, this edition is actually from 1967, when Fawcett/Gold Medal took over the series, and re-released THE HUNTER as a tie-in to the movie adaptation POINT BLANK.
