Our mother, Mary Claire Nolan (nee MacDonald), passed away on November 4th at Oakwood Terrace. The Boyd household was a magnet for creative young people during the 1940s, including the emerging painters Sidney Nolan and John Perceval.

Sun 19 Jun 2016 11.57 EDT During the late 1960s, Perceval’s increasing alcoholism put pressure on the marriage, and Mary returned to London with her youngest daughter, Alice. With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Nolan (Greenfield, Ohio), who passed away on February 8, 2020 at the age of 70. By the end of the decade Mary was divorced and living in Britain with all her children. Services by Cremation and Funeral Services of Nashville. There Mary and Sidney converted the tithe barn into a gallery and concert space through the Sidney Nolan Trust, which they formed in 1985. Nolan and the Boyd brothers were already established in London by the time the Perceval family moved there in early 1963, setting up household and studio in Highgate, north London.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Nathan Taylor and Francis Jean Taylor (Bowdle); her husband Larry Joe Nolan; and her siblings, Larry, Jackie Junk and Rachel Ann "Stook" Freshour.
